Question getting the ext. warranty worth it?.insurance?

hi guys..dealer told me my gl320 will be built by june 28th and be at the dealership [Knauz-MB/chicago] around July 15th or so.

was wondering, is getting the ext. warranty worth it?..7yr/100k mi...or a waste of money?

will be going with state farm for insurance, as well as home/another car, insurance, so don't know how much of a discount i'l be getting for the gl?

anyone getting/has cheap insurance from other companies?..please tell.

thanks.

I was advised by the dealer I bought my GL (450) from to wait on the extended warranty and buy it before I hit 10,000 miles. The "7 year/100K warranty" is really only 3 years, 50K miles because it runs concurrent with the 4 year/50K warranty that comes from MB. By delaying the purchase of the extended warranty, you put off spending the $$ until after 10K miles.

We have our vehicles insured with AAA and they have been very good to us. I honestly haven't shopped auto insurance for quite some time, as we have had our homeowners and auto with AAA for about 10 years. We used to have our motorcycles insured with them, but they were crazy high on those rates, so we went with Progressive for the m/c's.

I bought the extended warranty not only on the car but also on the tires/wheels and dent protection as well. Why? Well, let me say that after reading about the hose issue I am really glad to have bought it. Another reason is that I am coming out of a BMW (really excellent maintenance and warranty coverage) and I wanted to cover my future risk of exposure as if I was buying another BMW. As for the tire/wheel package, this has paid off for me before. And as for the dent coverage, I thought, "what the hell?", I am tired of parking a quarter of a mile from the restaurant to protect my doors.

Okay, now I don't feel like such a Rube for buying the tire protection. I walked out of there thinking, "I'm the only guy in the country stupid enough to have done that!"

Then again, I buy (for the tires at least) when I go to Discount Tire for them, and that has paid off repeatedly!

I bought the wheel/tire warranty as well. After I had every responsible person in the dealership assure me it covered my $1k/ea Brabus rims, it was a no-brainer.
