independent mechanic shop?...chicago

is it worth going to an independent shop for maintenance/repairs who knows mb vehicles?. if so, anyone know of any in chi-town/suburban area? thanks

If it's something under warranty, I'd take it to the dealership. If, as happened with the first MB I had, you find someone who knows a heck of a lot about the cars and doesn't feel the need to bend you over, then definately use an independant shop - provided you will a) save a significant amount of money, and b) get a written guarantee.

FWIW, I don't know anyone out here in the Phoenix area I'd trust with this first-year car, much less in Chicago. Heck, I barely trust the dealership!

I've been taking my cars to Knauz for the past seven years. As I recall, that's where you are buying your GL. They've done a good job for me and I've got no complaints. They cost more because they are a dealer, but that's a non-issue during the warranty period.
