Siriurs is gonna be standard in GL550... Since I've gotten tired of waiting for GL, I just called my Bimmer dealer to get sirius installed on my 7.. I'm gonna get going on the new tech stuff even before I get the GL.. Or would you guys say I'm behind on the satelite stuff.. Am I in the dark ages with my CD changer???

Sirius has been standard on GL since late last year and is worth it. Get an iPod kit also added and you will never use your CD changer. I know I don't.

Won't there be subscription fee after few months or a year of sirius on GL? My dealer mentioned something like that.

I agree with OKNISH, we have sirius, the Ipod integration, and the cd changer. We've used the cd changer once since May.

After 6 months, it's like $150/year.

I use SIRIUS almost all the time. I have the DVD changer loaded with some MP3's and other music but only occasionally do I switch over. I think the price after 6 month free trial is $12 a month or $144 a year, a little cheaper if you buy multi-year subscription which I did. They will transfer it to my GL from the S when I do the initial setup.

With the iPod hookup I don't think I will ever use the CD player...

Mothers! Anyone wanna venture how much sirius is grossing monthly...
I think they signed Stern for some obscene amount of money thanks to 150 per year per biter..

Capitalism strikes again...

I'm a double biter. They'll have me on my 7 and the GL.. Any chance of multi-car discount or will I just get a condolence letter from the Sirius big wigs..

Maybe I can at least get in on a Stern taping...

No Sirius for me...

I have it now, and after my 6 months is up, I am probably gonna let it expire...

We don't use it very much at all, and I just can't spend 150 bucks a year to listen to the radio...

You can pay a one time lifetime charge of about $400 for Sirius if you do it before your free trial ends. I have it on both my BMW and my GL and never get a bill.

I have a concern about what will happen when Sirius acquires XM. I would like to get the XM channels but don't know how that will work since I have paid already the lifetime fee on Sirius.

We have Sirius in both cars and at home. Love it. Listen all the time. Turn Stern off, there's plenty to choose from, and yes, his contract is obscene. No commercials is fantastic. When I'm in a rental I can't stand free radio and all the non-sense and talk so I turn it off. Haven't used a CD player in years.

The way it works - first subscription is full price, buy a longer contract and probably save some money. Then each subscription, up to a total of four, are half price. At least it used to work like this.

Pay once

Let me say this again. A little known fact is that you can pay a lifetime, one time fee of about $400 and never get a bill again. Never any more bills. The subscription is forever and you can transfer it to your next car. It's just like having free radio for a fairly reasonable one time fee.

Sirius will not offer this to you but will tell you the details, which aren't many, when you call and ask. To get a reduced price, call before the free trial ends.

I agree that once you have grown accustomed to Sirius you will not be able to give it up.

I had XM in my Expedition & we have it in our Civic. I have Sirius in my GL and love it. It will be interesting to see what channel changes happen due to the XM/Sirius merger. My XM is paid up through December for the 2 XM units we have so again, interesting to see what, if anything will happen with the account if the merger is complete before December.

I don't have an iPod (am I the only human being without one???) so I can't comment on the iPod integration. I rarely use my CD changer, although I just got a couple of CD's for my birthday, so I have been listening to them.

Oinick, you got a good deal for $400. The price is now $499.99 for lifetime - offer ends 30 Jan 2008. Here's the URL: http://www.sirius.com/servlet/Conten...1150907696769&

The URL also explains multi-radio subscription fees.

I'm with you, Jack. I asked Sirius to block the Stern channel. Don't even want to hear him momentarily as I scan through the channels.

I didn't know you could do that. When I sign the GL up I will request they block it.

NJ, you just blew my cover again with your nice pics. The above gorgeous GL550 pic was noted by an employee looking at my computer screen.. I confessed I was getting it and my cover was blown.. Oh well no way I won't be spotted in it once it comes in.. Big tri-star will trun everyone's head..
