GL550 mileage
After 1200 miles, about half city and half highway, we're getting 16.3 mpg. This is better than I would have expected, given the EPA ratings of 13/17, especially since the engine has likely not broken in completely.

Just filled up our GL for the first time and with virtually all city driving, except for a few times up and down the mountain, my initial MPG is 14.8. I'm looking forward to seeing how that figure improves during the break-in period, as well as the big trip to Vegas at the end of the month.

I agree raj.
Averaging 16-17 mpg on mixed driving cycle. I'm not exactly light on the gas pedal either. It may be possible to get 20 mpg on the highway if cruising but need to break in the car a bit more.

When I make the cross country trip I will reset to 0 and not reset until I return like I did with the S Class.

2nd Tank Update
Just filled up the beasty for the big trip to Vegas and got 15.2 mpg, which was all stop-n-go driving, up-and-down the hill, along with 20 miles or so of up-and-down shifting for the snow this past weekend.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the mark will be when I fill up sometime tomorrow on the interstate. Will be leaving early in the morning in order to play 18 at Redlands Mesa out in Grand Junction, then onto St. George, UT where I plan to spend the night.

The course is really, really good in my opinion and well worth the $84 for green fees and cart. Played with a friend today from the blue tees (slope 133) who cards a 9 handicap (I'm a 15, hoping to get to a 10 by end of '09). He was only 4 over heading into #18 and ending up getting a triple bogey on the last hole to shoot a 79.
It's kind of like odds in Vegas. Those bookmakers don't screw up very often. Same in golf with handicaps. Most scores end up reverting to the mean in one way, shape, form, or fashion.
I shot an 88 and considering that I 3-putted 6 of the greens, I was actually very happy with my round.

We drove the vehicle around town for the first few days that we owned it and we seemed to average about 12 MPG. There are lots of stops and starts in our town.
I drove about 250 freeway miles yesterday and averaged 18 MPG with an average speed of 79 MPH.

What a great experience and great golf from clearly a tough course. Thanks for the info as I am planning a trip to CO next year. Enjoy LV. My favorite public course there is Royal Links. It is 7200 from the tips ( never played from those tees however!) and the holes are pattterned after famous links holes in the UK. Have fun!
If you'd like reco's on Colorado courses, send me a PM and I'd be glad to help out. We've got some incredible courses in the mountains.
Take Care.
