Question analog clock change?....

how on earth do you change the analog clock in the instrument panel? I have the comand/nav on my gl 320 cdi....nothing is mentioned in the manual? or comand manual?

I don't know about the GL, but I take it command is the same in any mb correct?

Well in our S550 you turn on command -

go to system > Time > and click the command control to access the hour/minutes.

remember the car has to be "on", if not it will only show you TIME but you will not be able to make any changes.

No it isn't.

Our E, built in Germany has Harmon/Becker Command.

The GL from Alabama has an Alpine Command.

GL time is reset via steering wheel buttons and multifunction display.

E time is reset via Command.

If you sign up for "owners online" at MBUSA.com, they'll send you an Email reminder how to do it.

Push the Sys Button on Command and it will open menu including Time..click on the Time softkey and use the joystick to set the clock back a hour. It will change the digital time and the analog time.

Looks like 08 GL got a change in clock setting via COMAND. I changed my time today and went in Serv and then when I click on Time, I only see timezone selection. I select my timezone (Pacific) and then I see the Normal time/Daylight savings time choices. I then selected Normal time which then reset the clock back. Watching it was cool, like Stumble says.

Thanks for that, I got to the timezone thing, didn't go any further, and walked away stumped.

Now if I could figure out my Costco atomic clock I would be a happy camper. It's supposed to set itself but it's still an hour behind. Go figure.

It does go the other way if you use the joystick to reduce the time 1 hour. Mine was at 1:30PM and I just hit the joystick one click back and the clock went to 12:30PM by going backwards. It did not do the full 23 hours.

Uh oh... I imagine iguess, petery, and 2thfixr are on their way to the garage right now to continue playing with the clock.

I think we should add this to list of little things we like about the GL.

That's the way my 2007 worked when I finally did it today.

Guess the MBUSA instructions are for GLs without NAV.

This is one of the things that puzzled me about my MB. You spend $50k on a car with NAV and you'de think the damn clock would set itself. My $20 alarm clock set itself automatically on Sunday mornin but not my Benz. Wats up wit dat?

Not only that, but why do you have to SET the time zone? Uh, GPS anyone? It KNOWS when it goes from one time zone to the other, and that Arizona (and one other state ... who is it?) does not do DST, or at least it should. The Nuvi we took on the motorhome trip changed times as it changed time zones, on its own.

These are the things that confuse me.

My clock changes time when I cross time zones. I am surprised the GL doesn't do that. Or am I in error? I bet Jack knows best since he just drove through about 6 time zones.

You have me intrigued, NJ. I can't figure out how to change time using the joystick. Any tips? Wondering if that is a also a 08 feature.

Nish,

Don't know if it's an '08 feature, but if you press the SYS button on the Command, then using the soft keys, press the time key and the current time appears on the Command screen and the hour will be highlighted. If you press the joystick down once, the time will go back 1 hour. When you push the joystick inward, the new time is set and the analog clock starts to rewind 1 hour.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Stumble. I am pretty sure that is an 08 feature. In mine when I go to SYS and then Time, I don't see any adjustments for time itself. All I see are Timezone selection and then when I select a timezone, it asks me to select Daylight savings or normal time.
