Check engine light with code 106c00

Guys, i am having CEL already 3 times and according to the garage, code is 106C00 on last two. assume first one is also same.
can not find anything related to this code. They suggest changing two sensors on the exhaust for 1k for all. even more, suggested to change catalytic converter. i believe that is even more expensive. don't want to do it as it is not sure and not guaranteed to fix permanently.

my question is, have you heard about this code and if that may be related to exhaust?
what is that sensor? oxygen sensor?

can i buy those sensors ebay then replace myself? any rest or programming for the computer needed after replacement?

I have GL350 2010 with 44 000km.

thanks in advance.

that's not an OBD-2 Code.

the code would start with a letter, than have 4 numbers after it. ie "P0125"

i also thought so since i could not find anything. then why he would give such code.
probably i should by ODB 2 reader and check myself.

is this possible for 2 years old car to have broken/faulty sensors?

take the car to an auto parts store and ask them to read your check engine light (if it's still on) and write down what he tells you and tell us.

Reading a newer Mercedes with a generic obd2 scanner will yield very limited data. No shop without das should be trusted with ECM- related repairs.

Have the car properly read with das and if doubt of what the results mean- post them here.

thanks guys,
what is das please?

last time they cleared the code. i am pretty sure it will come back soon. so I will go to another garage. this garage is certified garage by MB and yet can not fix my issue after 3 tries.

also rear-right window did not close completely on one up click. it went up, then down until half way. so i had to keep pushing the control up until it closes. they could not fix it and proposed to change the motor. i did not believe it is the motor and refused to be changed.
then when i got my car back, rear-left window has similar problem.
i fed up with them and decided to live with broken window mechanism.

I have CEL again and went to the same MB garage to check if the code is still the same. I have seen on the paper that it is actually saying "P106c00 - unknown". They do not know what it is again.

any idea please?

I would guess that the window problem should be easy to fix. Google "Mercedes window switch reset"

It seems to be a fairly consistent problem.

Hi, after many CEL and just clearing it, decided to ask again here. I noticed it comes after driving in rain. Went to garage then compared to the previous error. Same error code. Will attach the report here.
Is this telling any hint or direction please?

PS: Since warm weather window issue is better. However i decided to live with it. Probably will happen during cold season.

Thanks.

i searched on google about "misfire during rain." most results are about non diesel engine and if it is for diesel then people say it might be injector issue.
How about then using injector cleaner product? does it help? worth to try? if so anything to recommend or how to use it? thanks.

Mercedes France tried to fix my CEL issue but after changing many things still getting it. now they gave up and telling me that your US version is not compatible in Europe. for whatever unknown reason CEL is coming back and we do not have a solution.

Is that possible? any one with US mercedes driving in Europe having any kind of issue? Thanks.

Let me get this straight, a MB dealership is telling you that your vehicle is not compatible for the EU? What does that even mean?

Your original code, 106C00, is a Mercedes Fault Code. Are you saying that the MB dealer in 2012 was unable to determine what the issue was, and you are still having this issue? What was the $1k cost you mention is 2012, why was your vehicle not under warranty and placed with the dealer until all was resolved.

What did an OBD II reader spit out as a code? Granted, they may not be 100% correct, but they can steer you in the right direction. Recently on my vehicle, an OBD II reader showed a P2202, NOx sensor, Bank 1, low input. After getting the vehicle back from Mercedes, paperwork showed that it had Fault Code 111B00 failure of upstream NOx sensor. It is interesting that your Mercedes dealer doesn't know what Fault Code 106C00 is, or can't contact somebody who does.

My vehicle is a 2012 GL350.

Edit: I just looked at the photo you previously attached. The paper work clearly states that 106C00 means: "le rendement du catalyseur (banc de cylindres 1) n'est pas suffisant" which google translate translates to: "the catalyst efficiency ( cylinder bank 1 ) is not sufficient." I know the translation isn't 100% correct, but it looks like you have a bad NOx sensor. You indicated in your original post that the shop wanted to replace 2 Oxygen sensors. You vehicle doesn't have Oxygen sensors, but instead Nitrogen Oxide sensors being it's a diesel. Did you ever get the NOx sensor(s) replaced? Did they perform the "teach in adaption" of the NOx sensors?

yes. they are telling the reason why it is getting CEL is probably due to the fact that my GL350 diesel is manufactured for USA but using in europe. maybe diesel content is different or something else.

i bought it after 2 years and 1 month therefore MB warranty is expired after 2 years.

based on 106c00 code, they already changed some sensors. i understood oxygen sensor.
eventhough it keep coming back.

on sudden acceleration like going up hill, or entering to high way, on 3rd gear the engine is always stuttering/ choking/ hesitating ....hard to describe but its jerky - so i ease back on the throttle and let it accelerate slowly.. instead of smooth acceleration it feel like fuel is not feeding continuously. i am guessing it must be related to that. after such aggressive acceleration CEL comes back on. but not immediately. after some time.

i cannot comment on "teach in adaption" as i do not know what it is. also dealers does not explain all the detailed work. also i do not speak good French.

thanks for your reply.

If you are using BioDiesel, then yes, you can run into problems as Mercedes recommends using no more than 5% BioDiesel. Are you putting in Diesel or BioDiesel?

It looks like France (in early 2015) raised the limit on Biofuels in their Diesel to 8%: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-fr...0KL1P720150112

Here is a brochure from Mercedes USA regarding BioDiesel: https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital..._Brochure5.pdf

In the US, we have to be very careful where we get our Diesel from, as most stations only carry higher content BioDiesel. Luckily for me, I have a Meijer nearby my home, as Illinois is one of the states that poses difficultly in getting straight diesel.

So, when you fill up, are you pulling up to a BioDiesel pump, or are you pulling up to a Diesel pump?

Also, when was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

i do not add BioDiesel, but normal diesel. unless normal diesel already have some amount in it. here i do not see much of "Bio" option anyway. almost none. the article about 8% in France is as from 2016 while my issue was already happening back from 2012.

Fuel filter: i assume it is changed always during B,C service. if not, hope mercedes changed it in order to fix my issue. myself - never.
