Traffic info

All the sudden last week my navigation started showing traffic information. Is this service becoming free? I did not call or pay for it.

For traffic only it is about $50/year.

Not worth a dollar IMO. It basically told you there was traffic once you were in the middle of it. The alternate route choices were hard to decipher and just too much of a hassle to get to once you're we were already stuck in traffic. And this was not isolated to the NYC area. Had the same issue with just about any other major city we were in. If they changed the tech after 2009, then great. In the 2009, it sucks. I use my TomTom for iPhone and it's infinitely better than the MB head unit.

I liked it though, it was easy for me to navigate through it. I used it on trip from DC to NYC and it was great!

I used it a lot on my trip from NYC to Florida and back and it kept telling me about all accidents on the highway and the ways to avoid them. I have to agree with previous poster - it's not very helpful in NY city driving, but it cost $4 a month - why not to have it.

FYI, I had a fully-loaded 2012 GLK with AMG package as a loaner a few weeks ago and it had the latest navi with 3D rendering and traffic. It was definitely an improvement. I would probably pay the monthly on the new system.
