Airmatic Relay Failure
Hi guys:
My pal has a 2008 GL as well, and his airmatic pump just burnt out due to getting stuck on from a bad relay.
This is a very well known airmatic killer, all the way back to the 1998 S classes. If you look on the W220 forum, you can see that there is a new superseded relay part recommended for anyone with airmatic in that chassis. As I will be going off warranty in a few months, does anyone know if there is a similar batch of bad relays out there on the GLs? Does anyone know the location and part number of the airmatic relay on our cars? Maybe it is worth replacing as a prophylactic measure? This guy's VIN is only a couple hundred cars older than mine.
What do you guys think?

He has now lost a third compressor due to being stuck on. I know the service advisor he is using, so next time I'm in, I'll see what is going on.
I'll keep you guys updated.

Your pal might have a small and or intermittant leak in one of the Airmatic struts?
