Drivers side recline stopped working

Hello all,

Just bought a 2009 GL320 a month ago. Everything was working great until about a week ago. The drivers side recline/incline started sometimes working, sometimes not. Then as of yesterday it completely stopped.

No strange noises. I can hear what sounds like a relay clicking on and off when I hit the switch, but no response. I don't hear any motor sounds. The seat neither goes up or down. Using the memory function doesn't help either. So I'm guessing its not an issue with the switch itself. Feels like its either the motor or the connection to the motor.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

Anyone know how to open up the seat to get at the motor?

Thanks

Why don't you go to a nearest dealer ? This car must have a warranty..how many miles it has ?

Sorry to hear. Try independent shop. It sounds like easy fix (hopefully)
Good Luck.

Yeah I was hoping to take a look myself. As long as its not terribly involved I like doing things myself.

I would bet the motor went bad since you hear it click but not run. If it wasn't clicking then you could start with a fuse. Locate the motor and remove and test maybe?

Yeah bad motor is my guess too. I'm just looking for tips on how to get to the motor itself. What do I open up, where, how etc. I don't want to take apart anything I don't need to.

Repair, Maintenance and Diagnostic information with component disassembly and assembly, ETM with Star Finder, Service Bulletins and DTBs, as well as Owner's and Introduction Manual for model 164 (ML- and GL-Class) 2006 to 2007. Please see WIS-net for MY2008 or later.

Yeah I've seen the references to startek in the past. Your link just gave me a list of documents. Do I have to call the 1-800-FOR-MERCedes number to order a doc?

What is WIS-net?

Thanks
