Garage Door opener issues

Has anyone else experienced a really weak signal from the GL garage door opener? I almost have to be at the garage door to get it to open and sometimes it take multiple button pushes. If you have experienced this problem what did you do to resolve the problem?

My new 08 GL had the same problem. I complained while it was still under warranty and the dealer replaced it. It was somewhat better but is not anywhere near as good as our Acura on the same door. It will open from the street whereas the MB has to be no less than 10' from the door.

I think something is wrong with your units. With both my R and ML I can open the garage door from approx 40-50 yards away. To the OP:
I would check it out at the dealer. Bselph, take it back and complain. It may be a defective unit. One other thing you can both do is elimate the possibility that the problem is on the receiving end (door). You could easily program another door for test purposes at a friends/neighbors house.

2010 E350 Coupe, 2010 GL350 Bluetec
My wife's MY10 GL350 has the exact same problem. At the door with two Parktronic red lights on and most of time it doesn't open. I find out I have to have the passenger side of the car sort of facing the door to make it work. This forces us to have a garage door remote in the car. I'm sure the receiving end is not the problem because my E350 Coupe opens the doors from more than 30' away. (yes we have two garage doors and both behave the same ways, with both cars)

I will bring this issue up to my SA next time it needs the service.

I wonder if it has anything to do with IR glass?

Mine doesn't have the IR glass and the range is very low compared to my E.

By chance I tried opening the door with the liftgate open (and facing the house). It worked the first time from about 20 feet. My GL550 has the IR glass. Maybe its a combo of a weak signal and the IR glass. Maybe its time to modify the antenna on the opener....

I love my 2016 gl350
I have an 09 gl450, no problems. It opens from at least 50' away.
