Ipad does not charge
I have had the correct cable in my 2009 GL 550 to charge my iphone since I bought the car. Just got an ipad and was surprised that it does not charge. Am I missing something?

Mercedes constantly updates the cables throughout the year to make sure that new devices charge. If your GL is an '09, chances are MB wasn't making an iPad compatible charger back then.

The ipad needs more current to charge than an iphone/ipod. They won't charge off the USB port of many computers too.

That is actually only partially correct. We are Apple developers, and the iPad will charge as long as the screen is off, but at a very slow rate. The iPad charge is 2 amp, and iPods are 850mA (.85 amp)

iPad charging
The iPad charges best off a std AC plug, not a cigarette adaptor. For optimal charging in the GL, I use the AC plug in the trunk.
