H (Pirelli) vs V (Michellin) tires my 2008 GL
Folks:
I need a recommendation for 2008 GL320. Tire size is 275/55/R19. OEM has H rating I believe which is Pirelli Scorpion. I like Michellin Latitude but not sure since it's V rating. Does that matter esp for longevity and performance of these tires? My Dunlops did not last me much at all. Just over 20,000 miles only. Would these be any better?
Any experiences out there with them? Need to get them very soon.

Regarding H and V, there is not much difference unless you are planning to go in excess of 130 mph ...

Thanks! Called Discount Tire and they said choose choose Pirelli over Michellin since the 'H' should get longer life for your truck and it's what the manufacturer recommends as well.
Discount Tire is better on price than Tirerack. Any other places I should check online?

No to Pirellis!!
Went back to AAA Car Care Center, got a full warranty reimburse and had their head tire buyer involved in making a selection. My choice ended up being the Michelins-I've never had a problem with them and used them on every other vehicle before this. Must say after 6k more miles (currently at 33k) they are still incredible-best ride in this luxury machine I've ever had and much much quieter-best part is absolutely no cupping.
I understood at the outset I would possibly get a shorter lifespan but to me the trade offs were worth it. The speed rating is somewhat of a nonissue since this is no 550.
Good luck to you!

After having the OEM Contis and then the Pirellis, we went with the Hankooks which were recommended by certain people on the forum. We've been very pleased with them. They seem to be wearing well with no true appreciable wear noticed in 6K miles; they are quiet, and the car handles as well as on the other two brands of tyres we've used. Plus the Hankoooks were cheaper. You might want to look into them.

I'm not sure where you live, but some aren't really winter tires. I've had two sets of Contis at first and now two sets of Hankooks. I have 102,000 miles on my vehicle. I'm happy with the Hankooks and would recommend them. They seem to do ok in the snow, for a wide 19" tire.
I purchased mine locally and they usually arrived in a couple days to the tire shop. I've had issues with Discount Tire telling me things that were just plain wrong so don't listen to them for advice.

My Michelins Diamaris have worn out at 28,000 miles and I ordered Hankook 19s in December. They (Sears) called and said they were back ordered until March. Several other tire suppliers confirmed this delay. I await patiently my new tires....

Hankook Vs Toyo
Any idea how Hankook compares with Toyo? Toyo seem to be a bit cheaper and has good reviews too? I heard hankook has 65k warranty but not sure abt toyo's warranty...

I have the Toyo's not many do yet, as they are still pretty new to this size. I have found them to be an excellent value over all options...which are slim. But I still use a winter set - 18"er's with Blizzacks - When I did hit the snow and ice with the Toyo's I was impressed....but nothing compares to the Blizzacks in the winter - plus I get a longer period of time between tire changes - winter tires last a long time if you get them off when it gets warm so they don't melt away... Good Luck.
