2008 GL450
Should I extend my warranty on my GL450 to 75K/100K?
Hello,
I got a 2008 GL450 and planning to extend the warranty. So far I had issues with suspension twice in the front suspension with sqeeking noises where parts were ordered from germany and already replaced and a fork in the back that blew up and started leaking oil, all these under normal driving conditions, my wife and I don't go crazy driving and never took the SUV for off-roading. I currently continue to experience NAV/Audio system with distortion issue that happens sporadically from the day I purchased the SUV. I took it to the dealer to get it fix once and for all. A latched in the tail gate was replaced, the rear tail gate had to be centered multiple times because it wasn't latching. Passenger door lock was replaced because it wasn't locking at all. And finally the tire pressure indicator was going off even though the tires were correctly inflated.
So the question is, should I extend my warranty to either 75K or 100K. What could go bad in the years to come under normal driving conditions. It is expensive though. I know peace of mind, but how much can I save if I purchase the extended warranty instead of not getting it and just taking it for service and paying out of my pocket. Any experience on this, please advise. 50,000 miles comning very soon.
Thanks in advance to everyone for their feedback

I would if you're planning to keep the car longer. Couple trips to the shop will probably pay for the warranty. Air suspension (which is prone to failure) repair alone will most likely pay for the warranty. Shop around for the best deal.

Ive never owned a GL but my ML has been far more reliable. I dont have an extended warranty on my ML because literally maybe 2 things have gone wrong with it since I purchased it new. However, in your case, it seems that your GL has had a substantial amount of problems.
If I was in your shoes, I would get the warranty. Like said above, an AirMatic failure alone will pay for the warranty.

FYI, MB recently changed their CPO/ELW warranty coverage to exclude struts, so many ABC and airmatic cars will no longer have their struts covered under warranty.
I can get you an exclusionary (bumper to bumper) plan for your GL, to last 4 years or another 50K miles from what you have now, for $5732 with $100 deductible. And until the end of March, you get a zero deductible upgrade, normally $400, for free.
I have hundreds of people with MB's with this warranty, including a dozen or more here on MBWorld, and everyone is very happy.
