Chrome Package Adjustment

I picked up my new 2012 GL350 yesterday and noticed the rear drivers side chrome handle inset was off center causing the door handle not to seat properly. Is there a way for myself, instead of driving back to the bay area, to adjust the piece and center it correctly. i know this is covered under repairs but it seems this would be a simple fix at home. I read where you can remove the the chrome insert with a heat gun or hair blower but my concern is after loosening this insert will I be able to adjust it without it falling off down the road?

Problem is that if you try to work with it and bugger it up the dealer will ask you why you didn't bring it to them in the first place. If it were me I would speak to somebody there and let them know what happened. Maybe they will offer you something extra in exchange for you having to spend time for them to correct their inept installation.
