roof bars - placement insight for a roof box?
Howdy Gentz-
Getting ready to mount up a 20cubic foot roof box for a roadtrip.
Was hoping folks here could share their insight / experience as to the best recommended placement of the cross bars.
I've surfed a bit and found reference to "as far back as possible", to mitigate noise / best support the load.
Would appreciate any insight you all might share.
TIA folks!

thanks
that's where the bars are set now, but I know I've seen folks reference placing them further back and figured there was good reason

If you move the bars, don't forget that the length of each bar moved needs to change because the roof rails are NOT parallel. You'll be able to access the adjustment bolts by pulling up the rubber strip from the end.

Depending on the length of your top box, make sure you can open the rear hatch all the way. That may determine how far back you place the cross rails. Also, be mindful of the sunroof possibly hitting the load in the front if you accidentally open it. Pretty much common sense but sometimes common sense gets left behind.
