Glovebox aux vs media interface for Ipod

I'm picking up a 2009 GL320 with the aux as well with no media interface. The dealer wants 850$ taxes in to install the media interface. For those of you who have the media interface, do you think it's worth getting at this price? Are there many advantages over using the aux for iPod playback?

Thanks

Why yes.

All glovebox aux gets you is sound input.

The media interface gets you song selection display and steering wheel control.

Is it true though that the display for the ipod is strictly on the dash where the dpeedo is and not on the command display? This means only the driver can control the ipod correct?

If the iPod is the main source of your music, then i'd definitely recommend it. Its extremely convenient, plus...it also charges the ipod. My only wish is that it could play video as well....bummer.

Thanks for the reply guys. I didn't know it displays on the command as well. Can tracks be selected using the command or just the steering wheel controls?

I don't think you can select tracks from the steering wheel. From what i remember (wife drives the car daily, not me) you can only track forward and backwards from the steering wheel but can't really select any specific track outright. In the COMAND you can choose playlists, scroll through tracks (play any track directly) and essentially navigate the same music menus you would find on the ipod (e.g. genius, genre, artist, etc.).

FYI, you might be able to find this media interface somewhere else cheaper. Look up here: http://midcityengineering.com/ipod-i...ipod-bluetooth

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I was reading old post about the media interface with the old Command. I'll check your link as well. Thanks!

BTW what year is your GL that your wife drives? I assume it's 2009+ with the new COMMAND?
