Which steering fluid to use for power steering in Mercedes GL 450, 2007?

I’d like to verify what I really can use without any issues. According to the manual, I have to use MB Power Steering Fluid or approved Dextron III ATF.

Can I mix MB Power Steering Fluid with Dextron III ATF ?
Are these fluids the same?
What does approved Dextron III ATF mean?
Is it any Dextron III ATF fluid or a specific brand?
How these fluids can be different if they are all Dextron III?

Thank you in advance!

I ended up doing that. However, I was not able to get a clear answer if I can mix both fluids. They do not know, at least my dealer. On the other hand, i don not know which fluid I have now in the car. This is why I'd like to know if it is OK to mix.

Well, There is a good chance that your truck has the stock mb fluid to begin with. The ps fluid is "for life" and removing the steering rack is usually a dealer only activity so they will refill it with stock fluid.

So the mixing question you have is most likely not an issue.

Thank you. I just added MB steering fluid. It should be fine.
