Charging battery - extended vacation

I have purchased the MB charger (CTEK- 3300) and would like to keep my 2011 GL-350 charged during my extended vacation.

I hope it is OK to keep the charger connected to the vehicle for 3 weeks continuously?

Not sure if this recommended and since this is the first time I am going to keep it charging, will there be some kind of heat buildup that I should worry about?

TIA

The ctek is designed with your scenario in mind.

My car was parked for 2 weeks and started like I left it just yesterday. No charging needed IMO.

I left a '07 ML350, on its original battery, and a '10 Gl450, 75 days each, twice, hooked up to Walmart $20 something 'Schumacher 1.6 AMP Maintain' foolproof chargers; they can't be hooked up incorrectly or harm the electrical system. Nothing else was done. When I returned, both started up and were ready to drive as though they were last driven a few minutes ago.
On the first absence when I returned, one of the chargers was in the 'abort' mode. To reset, power to the charger needs to be cut for an instant. Now, I use inexpensive plug-in, wall outlet timers, set 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off so that if an abort happens again, it will be self correcting..........

Timers are an excellent solution - and not just for the abort issue. If the timer is set to, say... 4hr on, 20hr off... any question of excess temp goes away.
