Mercedes AdBlue Diesel 2 Channel KD-Box Performance Upgrade by Kleemann
Mercedes AdBlue System began with 2009 model years.
The Kleemann KD-Box is an efficient performance product for all Mercedes-Benz CDI models and also for most of the new BlueTec and BlueEfficiency engines.
The KD-Box is a highly convenient tuning solution as it is fitted only by cables and plugs with no need to open the engine control unit (ECU) or to replace any components. The KD-Box is adjustable and can adapt to the characteristics of the individual engine, ensuring a perfect power curve and at the same time preventing overload. In addition to the increased levels of power and torque (up to 25%) the KD-Box provides a sharper throttle response for maximum driving pleasure, and has been shown to improve fuel economy in many cases.
BlueTEC is a trademark name used by Mercedes-Benz to describe its diesel engine exhaust treatment system. In order to keep up with the steadily evolving and increasingly demanding emissions laws of North America and Europe, the company has designed and released two versions of this system. Version one was released for the U.S. market in the form of the 2007 E320 BlueTEC sedan and was designed to utilize, the then newly introduced, Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD). As a next step, Mercedes-Benz has released the more sophisticated R, ML and GL 320 series BlueTECs with AdBlue injection diesels that meet America's demanding BIN 5 emissions standards and are on-track to qualify for Europe's EU6 parameters.

Very interested for our '09, but have another 3+ yrs/52k miles left on my warranty. I imagine this would essentially void any factory warranty if there was a problem...is this assumption correct?

Actually this would be an incorrect assumption as the KD box can easily be removed in minutes if there is something wrong with your vehicle just remove the KD Box and bring it in to your local dealership

My concern would be if there is actually a failure that can be deemed as a result of the Kd box. I'm fairly certain that ECU's now store recent running data, so if there is a mechanical problem as a result of improper air/fuel, high EGT's, high rail pressure, etc..., the techs could likely access this data. If the data is out of spec AND they see that the ECU has been flashed recently, wouldn't be hard to figure things out. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Looks like a great upgrade for those off warranty...

You're part right part wrong. Yes "Certain" ecu's have the ability to store data. However this is a piggy back system not a flash. So your ECU will not show that its been flashed. So it will be completely undetectable unless you leave it in the car for the technician to see it. I think its a great mod for any car on or off warranty.
