GL 350 Oil Consumption
I'm seeing about one quart of oil consumed by my 2011 GL 350 every 5,000 miles. I'm now at 20,000 miles and this has been consistent so far.
When I recently changed my Diesel Fuel Filter, I saw a small amount of oil in the turbocharger inlet, which I know is normal.
Others seeing similar levels of oil consumption?
I think this is a good reminder that you do need to check your oil level periodically - I find with a 10k / annual change interval it's easier to forget about it than it was in the old days.

I burn a little oil in my 07 GL450. Service is usually about every 13,000 miles on the computer and I often need to add oil at about 11,000 miles.

I guess lucky so far, my 07 320 cdi does not need oil top ups between oil changes (10-11,000 mi)
I'm at 62,000 mi and await the 2013 models.

Were you a bit easy on the engine during break in? Generally speaking, engines need some proper load to seat in the rings when new...engine braking and varying RPM are some of the best ways to do this.
Zero oil consumption at 10k intervals on our '09 Bluetec, but 1qt every 5k is well within spec, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

about a quart every 10k miles on mine.
turbo diesels burn oil if revved as at low rpms their exhaust is very cool, but at higher rpms they run very very hot. wankel hot. oil is very hot in the turbo and seeps past the seals and gets blown into the intake.
at least the oil is used for forward momentum

Especially given I was towing a 6,000 pound Airstream trailer for about 4,000 of the last 10,000 miles, sounds like I am in the ballpark in terms of oil consumption. If nothing else properly seated my piston rings, I'm pretty sure towing the Airstream up the Teton Pass would have done the job...

GL350 Oil Leaker
I have a 2010 GL350. At 125,000 miles it started using oil. No leaks anywhere under or around engine. I was adding a quart a week(250 miles). Took to dealer they replaced oil seals in engine $2700. After they were replaced, the car was still using a quart a week. I took it back and the dealer tested and said that one cylinder was scored and there was nothing they could do. They offered a new engine for $11,000. It has been a month and now I am adding 2 quarts a week (less than 300 miles per week). I am not sure what to do. The car runs great, no smoke, the exhaust looks clean and no oil leaks.
Any comments...would be appreciated.

Yes. An independent one. Although dealer assigns usually knowledgeable techs on tasks like this one so chance of error is small. But who knows. Problem is if you are using so much oil you will soon plug the dpf filter and truck will not run right.
