If it wore prematurely it should be covered under warranty.

I got mine replaced under warranty, if yours have holes, you are covered. Mine had holes and was a bit of sticky from the floor lines.

Well it has holes and its ripped as if someone goes in and out of the car and hits it all the time. But I never seen this happen on diff cars

Where are the door seals tearing? Mine tore on the drivers side where the door hinges. They replaced the seal under warranty and then sent my GL to the Mercedes certified body shop and fixed the panel alignment. No more problems and all covered under warranty. Mercedes was good about taking care of the problem. The body work had to be approved by the regional Mercedes rep.

My GL has the same thing!!! I took it to the dealer when it had 49K miles and they said it's not covered under warranty... I have 60K miles; should it be fixed under warranty since I brought it up when the car had less than 50K on it???

I think it has to do with carwash soap getting into the seals and affecting the color/composition

If you are under the original warranty, they should replace. They won't do it under the certified warranty unless they do it under goodwill. It is a bad design with less than stellar material. Need another but I know the replacement will do the same thing in a year or so.

My 09 has no wear in that area. My guess is that your door is out of alignment and it is rubbing that strip each time the door opens and closes. I would talk to the service manager and request that the door be properly aligned if possible.

No, that's because the driver is probably tall and you are most likely short and don't drive with the seat far enough back so that you rub that piece when you get in and out of the car.

I'm 6'2" and keep the seat back all the way I think I hit it when I get out.

Yes, it's caused by rubbing it when you get in and out.

I'm 6' tall but I don't drive with my seat back too far. Check with your adviser on coverage but they might tell you that it is a wear an tear issue which won't be covered. I know that the service managers have money allocated to fix non warranty items for good customers. Plead your case.
