European Delivery
While using the GL configuration on MBUSA.com, the following txt appeared on right hand side of summary webpage when done with the GL configurator.
*********European Delivery Program
Pick up your GL from the factory in Germany, receive a 7% discount and drive your new Mercedes-Benz where driving was born.
Learn about the European Delivery Program*************
My understanding is GL is not available thru EDP.
Why they advertise on MBUSA.com if GL is not available thru EDP?

Yes, 100% of the world's GLs are currently made in Alabama. (plans to have factories in Asia later on for their perspective markets)
Probably just poor website design and oversight that made that show up on the website.

That's not exactly an exciting destination. I heard the C class will be manufactured there in 2014 and I was planning on doing ED for my next C class when the lease is up that year. I guess I'll wait and see.

I've been to the Alabama factory twice now. The facility is nice but nowhere near as nice as BMW's South Carolina plant when comparing them side by side. Also not as nice as any of the German facilities. It's really in the middle of no where but it's still neat to visit the small museum they have, and the first ML W163, ML W164, GL, and R at the museum as well as some other unique pieces. Worth visiting if you're in the area already which is why I stopped by both times.
