GL450 Electronics Differences btw 2009 and 2013
Hi all. My 4 year warranty is up in 28 days, and I am trying to decide what to do. I have some great offers on 2012 leftovers, but I have pretty much decided to bite the bullet on the 2013. I do have a few questions hopefully some of you can help answer. I believe I have the NTG 2.5 Comand unit in my 2009. It has a limit of 2GB for SD cards, but does have the logic 7 (which used to be part of the P1 package). I see the logic 7 is now part of the P2 package, for most music do you think that it makes any difference going for the P2 package for the stereo upgrade? I am going to get the keyless go in any case, but that still makes the value of the stereo ~1700 or so more. If I replace the speakers that come with the P1 package (spend about a grand on speakers/additional amp) do you think it will sound better than the stereo in the P2 package? I do spend a bit of time in the truck, so I want it to sound good.
Second, has anyone here installed the mid city remote start package? Do you like that one or do you feel it is not worth 4x the price just to carry a single remote?
Lastly, I would love to hear opinions on the ventilated leather package. I currently have MB-TEX in my 2009 but miss the leather I had in my previous truck and am thinking of doing the vented perfed leather. Does it cool the car off sooner/cool your body off noticibly?
Thank you all in advance for your time in answering my questions. I really do appreciate any insight you can offer.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe HK stereo has always been in the P2. It was in my 2007, and noticed on the 2012 it still is. I'm not an audiophile, but if I switch Logic 7 mode on and off it is noticeable. However, it does seem like most options on a vehicle - factory options are never a better deal than aftermarket.
I'm not sure what they are worth, but in the 2013 you also get power closing assist doors and lockable rear storage as part of P2.
I don't have any experience with the ventilated seats yet, but did order them on my 2013.

I really don't care about the power assist doors or the locking rear storage, I just wondered if the upgraded stereo was worth $1700 vs spending $1000 on my own and replacing all the speakers/amps with better equipment.

You are better off upgrading with aftermarket equipment. HK system comes with cheap paper speakers. I expected more. Get a cleansweep, upgrade the speakers, add a sub and you will be set.

I would think aftermarket is the way to go. The HK system in my 2011 GL350 does not impress me considering the expense. The COMMAND system is abysmal - reminds me of the MS-DOS days. I drove a new C class loaner that has an improved COMMAND system, but I'm still not impressed. My Audi has a much much better interface than what Mercedes offers, and the Bang and Olufson audio on the Audi blows away the HK system on the Mercedes. For all the money, I think Mercedes electronics are the weakest selling point. Even the backup camera picture quality on my 2011 sucks - hopefully the new ones are better.

Guys, don't forget with P2 you getting not only HK, but Keyless Go also. Keyless Go as a stand alone option cost about $650, so you actually paying less for P2 HK system.

I do have the mid city remote start and Drone mobile remote start thru phone. I rarely use the mid city remote to start as it has very poor range, and it doesn't help if it enables you to start 15 seconds before I can open with key less go. But I did and still do use my Drone mobile a lot to start a few minutes prior. It helps cool in summer, but doesn't warm much in winter. As I live in ND, the latter was a big dissapointment. May be the deisel engine does not warm up unless you drive it.
