I just purchased my first Mercedes..a used but mint GL320. I cannot find the oil dipstick. youtube videos show siphoning oil through the dipstick retainer (although I'll still pull the plug and drain from underneath) and the manual doesn't depict a diesel. Don't think it's a dash/message fill system. Any help would be appreciated.

You don't even have to take the engine cover off. With the hood open and you facing the front of the car, look for the round orange handle of the dipstick to your left of the engine center line and about even with the top of the engine. The dipstick doesn't go in straight up and down but inserts at about a 45 deg angle about crosswise to the engine center line. The dipstick itself is a piece of flexible steel cable with an orange plastic end that shows the oil level.
If you don't already have it, send me a PM with your email and I'll send you a .zip file of the owner's manual (the file it too large for this forum to allow it to be attached)

I was SURE that was the transmission dipstick (cabled flexible wire with red oil on the fill end)?? Unless Mobil 1 0W-40 is red? Umm. Yes, my email is jtm0947@aol.com
Thanks.
