2012 GL350 HOT !!
I have a 2012 GL350 with 5200 miles. Recently after driving 5-10 miles and turning off the vehicle the electric fan comes on. Outside temperature is in the 80's and this summer it was in the upper 90's without the fan going on. There seems to be a lot of heat coming from the engine bay but no idiot lights come on in the interior cluster. Additionally, the fan is very loud and makes a clicking on and off noise while continually running. Any ideas?

Its a Turbo so it will run hot. Just make sure that you let the motor idle for a minute or so before turning it off. Especially if you were under boost before you stop. Or be light on the throttle a mile or so before you know you will be stopping and turning off the motor.
Keep in mind that turbo is still spinning when you turn off the motor and the oil pump is not squirting the turbo bearings when the motor is off. Hence the reason to let the turbo spool down before shutting off the motor.

Our does the same occasionally, completely normal. I remember when we first got the GL350, when it was parked in the garage, it would hiss and let out these funny noises, it turned out to be the airmatic suspension leveling itself. It made me jump the first time.

Thanks for the replies. My wife drove the GL350 on the freeway fat highway speeds and later returned home to find the engine fan had stopped running which made me tend to believe what I was experiencing was the the engine burning off particulates in the particulate filter.
