2007 Mercedes GL - Airmatic Air Spring problems

Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help to understand better the issue. My Mercedes GL 2007 has problems with Airmatic system. The front left side strut can often be lowered to the bottom end. At the same time, it can hold the correct height for a couple of days. Sometime, I can hear the air leaking noise coming from the front left strut. I cannot understand why sometime it can hold the air pressure in the air spring for a long time and sometime it is leaking as soon as I park the car. I suppose that damaged air spring should always consistently leak. Please let me know what is really happening. Thank you in advance.

Sometimes the cracks in the rubber are held closed by the spring folding over on the piston in the middle.

This is a common problem with the X164. Replace both fronts. I have had great luck with the Arnott springs.

Mine did the same thing and I replaced the factory with the Arnotts Monday this week.

GL320
Change sensor link arms

That's what I did and it fixed it. The ball joints are sometimes corroded and stick. This is must cheaper than replacing the whole air strut.
