2010 GL450 Lug Bolts Size Question.

I know that the factory lug bolts size for the shank length is 45mm, but I want to know if I put 40mm instead of 45mm is that going to cause any wheel damages or anything? Thanks for any info.

How many turns of engagement do your lug bolts provide?
Is it at least the bolt diameter?

This is the picture of the Lug bolts side by side. Old and rusty is the original, and the chrome is the one that is little too short compare to the original. What do you think, should I put it on or return it. Thanks

Looks short to me.
Somewhere I saw a chart that related thread engagement to bolt size.

Having at least the bolt diameter engaged sticks with me, but don't take my word for it.

If my memory serves me correctly, you need a minimum of 5mm of engagement to properly hold the wheels on.

Thanks for all your info guys. I ended up return the lug bolts and don't want to mess anything that is not within factory spec.
