Flex Disc replacement questions
Just got a call back from the dealer.
The car is in for the first service since I got it, and is right around 100K miles.
The service advisor said the flex disc is cracking and recommends replacement.
On some cars this is a easy task and on some I hear it is hell.
Anyone have any experience, tips or suggestions?

The flex disk is a rubber disk in the drive line, something like a universal, but made of rubber to allow a little bit of movement and reduce vibration.
Different car, but gives you an idea what it is.

I think the part is about $275
They are typically not hard to change but I can't remember if there is anything in the way on the GL. (most things I have done under the car have LOTS of room to work.)
If you are not handy, this should be an easy job for an Indie.
Sorry can't be of much help right now.

Looks like the part is about $100 as a kit with new hardware.
I am more concerned that there is something that gets in the way and adds 3 hours to a 1 hour job, or some trick that save you busted knuckles and buying a special tool.

Haha! Not a lot of DIY on this board.
We will slowly change that as the cars get older, miles get higher, and more people buy them with smaller checkbooks and bigger toolboxes.
If you look under there, take a pic and share it here for the benefit of all.

I always plan to document my repairs and mods, but once into the job forget.
I will try.
I just noticed the dealership web site lets me look at the pictures the mechanic took.
The Flex Disk is not bad at all.
This job will be waiting a few months at least.
