New GL450 Owner -> Suspension Noises Normal ?
I recently purchased a 2010 GL450 CPO and am really enjoying the vehicle.
I am finding the REAR suspension makes a what I would call a hollow thumping noise when going over cracks and small holes in the pavement. It seems to only occur at speeds under 40 MPH and seems to be predominant in the left rear suspension.
Are other owners finding this same experience?
I asked the dealer about it and they stated it is the airbags dropping in the airmatic system and "it is normal."
Love to have others thoughts and feedback from your experience.

I have the same problem and it was noticed by a friend of mine while we were driving downtown
Seems to me that the sound gets louder while I am parking the car or when driving and turning slowly
Highway driving is smooth as silk
The dealer is checking the car out now and I am waiting for a reply

2011 GL450
I am also new owner (2011 GL450) and noticed quite a lot of feedback through the accelerator pedal, also a clunking sound when driving over rough patches in the road or turning. The service found it to be a leak in the strut, part of the airmatic suspension. The whole point to this advanced suspension system is to give a very smooth ride, so I doubt any thumping noise is normal.

And FINALLY...
The Dealership replied with the solution
They said that the bearing and the control arms (both upper and lower) have to be changed and after that they will see if the problem is solved..
In other words they slammed a 5000$ bill in my face and said that they will keep slamming me with more
My car is a 2010 model,, purchased in April 2011
It has 34000 km ONLY
no off roading and strictly no nuisance while driving
Warranty expired about 2 months ago
The service agent said that he will try get in touch with the manufacturer regarding a "good will"!!! Which I do not know what he means
Anyhow I took the car to another workshop "certified Merc mechanic" for a second opinion
Any feedback guys!!!
