GL questions

Hi All,

New member here!
Been reading through the historic posts in this area as I'm looking at buying a GL.

I wanted to ask -
1. Why does the gap between the front fender and wheel vary so much between different cars?, Some seem higher than others when viewed in normal mode without and ride height adjustment.

2. Where is the Sat Nav DVD meant to go?, There is a slot on top of the Sat Nav screen, and a multi player 1-6 slot box in the glove compartment.

3. Does the gearbox oil need to be replaced on these as it is not mentioned in the owners manual.

Cheers
AS

1) Ride height is controlled via the airmatic suspension system. The car is at different height at different times based on load, speed, terrain, and maybe other factors.

2) there is another slot behind the screen, with the eject button triggering the screen to fold out. That's for NAV DVD only.

3)according to MB tranny fluid needs replaced once at 39K miles. Some people say every 39K miles but the maintenance schedule has it only once. I will worry about that when I get there. It is very important however for the fluid to be changed because it has a starter type fluid from the factory that us meant to last around 40K miles. Of course you will need the correct type of fluid.

Buy one and Enjoy it!

Thanks for the responses.
With regard to the height, I see cars advertised that sit at different heights. If the car is stationary and parked, why are the heights not the same?

Are you sure the cars are identical? Same wheel size and even tires? If yes the only explanation is the car engine was shutoff while in the up position. The car can be raised by the push of a button.

Look at the gap between these cars -

They all seem different at the front between wheel arch and wheel

I also noticed in the pictures that a couple of them have the off road package installed which means you can raise them even more than normal in GLs without the off road pkg.
