2007 GL320:

When I try to play DVDs I get the "disk not recognized" error probably 6 out of 10 times. So, the DVD will play eventually but I have to continue to try.

Any idea what could cause this ?

I get that sometime too, I get it most of the time with the DVD I burn at home. But last week with a DVD from Redbox gave same error and turned out it was bad DVD, redbox gave me refund. You may want to try using a DVD cleaner disk, that helps.

I used to get the same issue with the DVD player in my 07 GL450. It had to be replaced to correct the issue. It was done under CPO warranty, so I don't know the retail cost. However, everything works fine now.

Oh no, it sounds expensive. Some discs work every time in mine and others don't ever work. I'm getting the same disc format or error message in my R500 rear DVD System.
