Vibrating steering wheel while in gear
I've done a search and haven't seen topics posted about this.
I have a 2009 GL550 that I bought as a CPO. The car is fine when I'm moving, but when I come to a stop, the steering wheel vibrates significantly. It's so severe that it can actually make my hands numb and I tend to keep my hands off the wheel when stopped at the light. When I shift it into park or neutral, it goes away. It seems to be related to the transmission, but I'm not sure I should take it in for the dealer to look at it.
Is it just that I'm not use to driving a truck based vehicle? Is this normal? Anyone else experience this?
Thanks!

Definitely not normal. I would suspect a bad motor mount.
User "alx" will probably chime in with good info before you take it to the dealer but if it's CPO all issues should be covered anyway.

I wish it was that simple.
What I do know for sure is that your steering should be dead quiet and vibration free. The only x164 with slight hum in the steering is the diesel, but even there it is barely perceived.
What you can do is check your power steering fluid level. That is about it.
If level is ok - take it your local dealer. They will check engine/ transmission mounts, steering column mounts, firewall boot, steering rack mounts and will check "load idle rpms" if too low.
Let us know.
