Help with new tires...
Looking to replace my Continental 275/50/20 oem run-flats with regular tires and kindly looking for some advice.
Would there be advantages to changing to 285's?
Also, I'm in the SF Bay Area where it's mostly dry and commute driving. I'm tired of the harsh run-flat ride and looking for a much smoother ride.
I've read other forums about Pirelli, Toyo, etc. But I can't seem to get a handle as to what would be a good recommended tire in my situation.
Help? TIA...

All tires are good when new. Buy the cheapest respected brand and call it a day.
I personally avoid Pirellis as they are overpriced junk IMO. Michelins, toyos, hankooks, good years, whatever - they are all fair game
Going to a wider tire will reduce slightly your tendency to understeer, but will increase road noise and will slightly reduce fuel economy. So... For a daily driver I would not bother with wider tires.

Not wanting the runflats any more, I have just ordered the only non-runflat all season tire made in that size, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde. Not cheap, but I think I'll get a better ride. I have a doughnut spare, and AAA. Is it possible to fit a full size spare in that size?

I also installed recently Yoko Prada 285 and very happy with them. I recently bough 19" rims for winter tires and need help in choosing winter tires for next year. Any advice on winter tires for 19" rims would be appreciated.
