Rear air bag failure
Just got my 2011 350 back from the dealer for an airmatic suspension issue, was the ground wire disconnected. Now bang goes the rear pass airbag, too dark outside to see tonight but will lift it up tomorrow. Does anyone know if there is a possiblility that it might be a simple fix???? I'm hoping that maybe something came disconnected, am I hoping against reality??
If anyone has had this issue pls comment.
tks Wendy

A question, husband isn't home so I jacket up the rear of my truck just to take a look...yes I'm that kind of girl. To me it looks like the air bag sits in a cup at the bottom and at the top there is a tiny brass looking hose attached which I'm assuming is the air....Anyway my question, is it not simple enough to take bag out reattach new one and hook back up to that line and the compressor will fill it up and off I can go???
I'm super busy in the next 2wks and don't really have the time to drive 8hrs to my local mercedes dealer to pick up my truck once it get's towed in. Plus it will cost me probably 400 just to make that all work so why not do it by our mechanic...
Any thoughts??

Go to the Arnott web site.
They have instructions her, and yes it is about that easy.
They have good prices and a lifetime warranty (I am not connected with them in any way, but did my research for when mine go.)

yup. very simple. make sure you dont cross-thread the air hose into the new airbag. very easy to do so and then you will need a new airbag.
do a search on a subject and my nick for more info.
and yes- once you connect everything raise the vehicle and the airbag will get filled.
unfortunately if one side has failed you will need to replace both with arnotts as the arnotts and oem should not be mixed up. removing the working one will require das (diagnostic computer) to depressurize the airmatic.
alternatively you can replace the failed oem one with new oem airbag and avoid doing both sides.

There is no way to deflate the bag or remove the line without DAS?
What about pulling the pump fuse and then listening the lime at the pump end?

got my Gl350 back last week, 2nd time to dealership in a month with suspension issue. Phoned Mercedes Canada and asked them if they would tow the truck back to me as I didn't have the 2days and 600+ flight ticket to spend on this suspension yet again, I did have the money but my time is full....So Edmonton calls me to verify my address after it was fixed (they replaced both rear bags and the back tailgate latch that was apparently faulty) because they are sending my truck back for me!!!!! Kudo's for MB Canada, that airbag service cost them a 700km tow each way and I'm greatful, sure didn't get this kind of service out of Range Rover!! My truck was fixed in a week by a dealership that I didn't purchase it from and they made everything feel as if I was their original customer. Again never got that service from RR Edmonton, in fact it was a hard pressure sell, no deal on a new replacement. So glad that I moved over to Mercedes, it might have helped that my sister drives a 2013 ML350 and mother drives her old 2007 ML550.
