Wipers running fast

Hi, I've noticed that when it rains hard, all the wiper settings produce constant fast wipers, even the intermittent settings. Once the rain eases, they still run fast on all settings.

Could this be a relay issue?
Does anyone know where the relay is please on a gl320?

Cheers

NOT relay!
That is the way they are supposed to work. That is why they are called 'automatic' wipers. Turn them to the 'auto' setting and they figure the rest out. DO NOT leave them in the 'auto' setting though if you happen to run the car thru a car wash.

Even once the rain has eased, they still work on top speed. I've had automatic wipers on other mercs, and none behaved like this.

make sure your wiper blades are in excellent condition (no streaking, smearing, chatter, etc.)

clean windshield with window cleaner

clean from outside with alcohol the glass above the "eye" array on the top center of the windshield.

Thanks will try that, I also read that you can also recalibrate the wipers with a star.

Replace wiper blades. Your blades are worn out and leave streaks as mentioned above which trigger the sensors continuously.
