Power Window Switches

I need to replace the power window switches that are mounted in the driver door arm rest. The switch that locks the windows has broken. Does anyone know if this can be done without removing the whole door panel. It appears that the whole thing may come out and unplug and pop in the new unit. It is not an expensive part( about $150 online) and I want to do it myself if I don't have to open the whole door up. Thanks for your help.

unfortunately, you will have to remove the door panel.

it is held in place with two bolts

one bolt is under the long chrome/ wood strip running horizontally across the middle of the door. just pray it off carefully.

the other bolt is under a narrow plastic cover located between the lock\unlock buttons. squeeze it at both ends and it will pop off. bolt is underneath.

be careful as if you remove too far the door panel it will rip the ribbon cable in there. pay attention and you will be ok.

Second what alx said. Be very careful with the ribbon cable that connects to the window switch. It can tear very easily and is a pain to repair... I found this out the hard way.
