How to remove liftgate trim/carpet panel

Folks -

I bought a new latch/lock mechanism - just wondering if anyone knows how to take the interior trim panel off the lift gate - its the panel that has the carpet on it. Seems to be secured very tightly and i don't want to break any fasteners.

I did get the bottom trim off the liftgate (the piece that houses that red buttons on the bottom of the liftgate).

Thanks for any help

I did this a few months ago in order to replace the latch/motor. I used trim removal tools and it popped off fairly easily working your way around. I started in the middle of one side and went all the way around. I had ordered additional fasteners because several others had said that they broke easily. None of mine broke and I felt that they were very sturdy. You have to use quite a bit of force to pop them to get started. If you lift the edge of the panel a bit and use a flashlight to peak under the panel, you can see where they attach. It is best to get your tool near each fastener.
