Hello! New Member - 1st post

Hello to the board.

I just bought an 08' GL450 and have a few questions:

1) does anyone know if an air suspension "malfunction" repair falls under NY used car lemon law?

2) any suggestions as to how to go about having the car inspected for lemon law issues? I would imagine an MB dealer is preferable. How much more could they charge over an independent shop for an inspection? (I called but had to leave voicemails - my local MB dealer is not user friendly - if they don't know you). As a caveat, I purchased in NY from a NY used car dealer but I live 120 miles away in CT, so taking it to NY for an inspection is impractical.

I love the car. Its so big and comfy. But it does have some air suspension issues and a creak from the front drivers side suspension. I went into this will full knowledge of the GLs known problems.

Whats the best way to get a written inspection? Also, the Malfunction arrow up message is now appearing. I got the car 3 weeks ago with 55k.

Thank you for any help.

Happy holidays,
DRP

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have read those provisions, which is why I am still uncertain as to whether air suspension is covered by the lemon law warranty. I should do a little legwork and search the case law. I'm sure with the prevalence of air suspension repairs to the GL this issue has come up before in New York.

I was hoping to hear from some one who crossed this bridge already.

Clearly the statute excludes suspension (shocks spring and bushings are all wear and tear items). And while a vehicle could become slightly unsafe with an extremely worn conventional suspension, a car with a faulty air suspension often can't even be driven. There's no warning light on the dash for coil spring malfunction, but there is for air spring malfunction.

Thanks again for the reply. I'll post once I find authoring further. The clock is ticking on my 60 days...

Regards,
DRP
