GL Headlights Hazing from inside
ALL,
I have done Xenon Conversion 2 Years back on my 08 GL 450. It has now a white haze on headlights on Inside. None of the Products (Turtle Wax Headlight restoration and Meguires ) work as the haze is on Inside.
I remember I kept the closing Lid of Headlight open for couple of months while I was still testing the capacitor and flickering problems with Xenon Conversion.
May be that Caused it. However I feel very bad when I look at 07 and 08 GLs on Road with sparking headlights.
Is there an easier way to clean it and restore headlights to factory like Conditions. I may even black them out. Don't know where to start
Thanks for your help.
Tommy

I have had this problem, I did a Hid conversion on a 97 Mustang, The problem was Cheap Ebay bulbs would "burn off" the coating on the bulbs from regular use and the vaporization would fog up on the inside of the lens, with a smoke film, Try Cleaning the headlight assembly from the inside and make sure its dry then order quality bulbs. I know hid and Xenon arnt the same but if your changing the ballast to a higher power system, Cheap bulbs tend to have some weird film on them that bubbles and causes that smoke film on the headlights. I think your getting the same problem as i did since you tried cleaning the headlights from the outside, also i recommend getting a "clear headlight bra" or film from ebay to protect the headlamps on the outside

How to open it up
Thanks Bosnian. Do you know how to open Headlights up to clean from inside. I have never done this. Also I guess any pointer to taking out headlights would be great as I think bumpers needs to go down as well.
It's sad what you said actually applies to me. Cheap Bulbs from Ebay screwed up my Headlights. However once I open it up I might clean it nicely.

Please any reference to headlight removal and opening headlights. Internet is full of scary oven roasting videos of headlights.

sorry for the late reply, i have never worked on your model, i have looked into what options yyou have, unfortunately your headlights are not like mine in a 1991 w124, the headlights in mine are easy to separate the lens from the housing, however the easyet way to do this is to remove the headlights completely from the car, if you have not done this i suggest you dont as i cannot find any instrutions online, your headlights are very very expensive so becareful, you may also remove the elecronics from the headlight including the bulbs, projector lens and ballest simply from the covers you use to change the bulbs, then use those "Armour all window wipes" on the inside from what you can reach.... thats basicly all i can tell you unless you can remove the whole assembly, and take pictures i can guide you most of the way
