is there a way to connect a Samsung galaxy/note, etc or other phones to the 2008 GL550 iPod Aux connection to stream music through the Aux input?
I have been using this adaptor ( ) to connect my iPhone 4S to the iPod aux connection, but will be upgrading to a new Samsung phone and want to make sure it can be used in the GL.

I can connect my Note 2 via a A2DP bluetooth connection or an aux cable with a Mobridge adapter, but that is a pricey solution. I've seen A2DP adapters that connect to the 30 pin cable, but I can't point you to one. Good luck.

A local stereo shop is a dealer, and they did the install. It allows you to connect to the stock system via A2DP (bluetooth streaming), aux in cable or a 30 pin ipod connector. The aux in works well, the A2DP works most of the time (sometimes it drops out, although mine has been working well lately for some reason), and the ipod connection is nearly useless because the interface with the MB display is slow to the point that it is almost unusable. When I still had an iPhone, I had a jailbreak app that allowed you to see the display and control the music being played via the phone rather than trying to do it via the head unit (usually an iDevice gives you an "accessory connected" screen and you can't do anything on it while connected). Without the jailbreak app, I would have just used the aux in connector rather than the 30 pin connector.
The Mobridge also gives you a phone bluetooth connection that will allow you to connect/hang up phone calls on the command unit and see caller ID info. It is pricey ($1Kish), it won't win any awards for the interface either (it definitely feels like it is added on rather than integrated into the system), but it does give you better phone/stereo interface options than 2008s came with from the factory.

I found a much more simple solution. I'm putting a dedicated iPod in the vehicle just for the music. But this does not fix the internet radio. Try FM transmitter maybe?

Thanks for the replies and the info! Will look into these options. I also found another work-around this issue. I can use the video connection (composite cable) and the SamDock to stream the music through the car speakers using the rear entertainment unit. I already had an iphone composite cable so I attached that to the SamDock adapter cable and hooked up my Galaxy S3, then I can stream its music through the speakers.
