New to site wondering if someone could shed some light on my 2007 gl 450 with 44K miles, abs and esp lights come on and the car suddenly brakes violently, a minute later the warning lights comes off and car driving normal again, happened at 6:00 am I almost got rear ended. Prior to this the only work the car needed was the two front air suspension bags replaced

I've read somewhere that the sensors at the wheels or the transmission failing or disconnecting can cause this.

the car has thrown codes. have the dealer read them and troubleshoot.

never heard of sudden braking on the x164 and x166, but by your description- sounds dangerous.

I found someone with a similar problem after suspension work, and it was the sensors at the wheels I'm going back to shop next week

2010GL550

yep, had a similar problem with the wife's 2010 GL550. it would brake on it's own and sometimes the warning lights would come on. was the driver's side front sensor. was almost impossible to drive until the issue was fixed.
