tips to quiet rear rattles?
Hello all -
I'm picky about squeaks and noises. Our 08' GL450 has 63k and it rides fine - but there is a lot of 'plasticy' noises from the rear when going over bumpy pavement - like cheap trim making noises.
So I opened the tailgate an inch or two and drove down the road and 95% of the noises are gone.
I think it would be wise for me to disassemble the rear hatch to see if clips are missing etc.. I would welcome any directions or a referral to diagrams for removing the interior hatch coverings and trim.
Any other advice? Is there an adjustment for the closing position of the door? Has anyone tinkered with this??
Thanks in advance,
DRP

Turn up the radio.
You can also apply some felt tape where the panel rubs against the rear hatch. But remember, most of the Mercedes SUVs will make a noise.

I just replaced the latching motor in the lift gate and took some pictures on how to remove the trim. Use this link or search for "lift gate motor"
