GL500 (Gl550) has the same engine as w221 S500 (S550)
So I was looking at a w221 s500 (s550) and compared the engines spec with the x164 Gl500 (GL550) and noticed they are both exactly the same, they must be the same engine (these are the stock engine specs)
S class 500 (550) specs
5.5 litre v8
Engine Configuration V90
Power 285kW @ 6000rpm
Horse power 388hp
Torque 530Nm @ 2800-4800rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 145.8 (W/kg)
Acceleration 0-100km/h 5.4 (s)
GL500( GL550) specs

Horse power 388hp
Torque 530Nm @ 2800-4800rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 116.6(W/kg)
Acceleration 0-100km/h 6.2 (s)
Interesting because if thats the case why are there greater outputs of power achieved in ecu tuning with the s500 (s550) w221 than with the gl500 (gl550)
There should be more capability to tune the gl engine just like the s class's?
