AC not working, Hoping for an easy refill/fix
Figured I would start a thread at the start of my adventure.
Called MB, and they said that all they typically do is a evac and refill with dye. ($280)
If it is not making noise then it should work for at least a month, then bring it back to (hopefully) find the leak.
I asked if given the distance to MB, if I should take it to my local trusted AC guy to get the evac and refill with dye.
MB service advisor said;
"No problems, if it needs more then just a refill call back to set up an appointment, and make sure they put in dye."
Called my local AC shop, evac and refill with dye is $125!
Lets hope this adventure (and thread) is as short as can be, and not 5 compressor replacements like my Honda CRV!

If the compressor is working, then a refill is all that's necessary. A can of dye costs $15-20 at any autoparts. Get a $9 UV flashlight at any Walmart or any sporting goods. Since your system is low you won't overfill.

Yes I know as long as the system has pressure you really don't need an evac, but I would first have to check to see if it had pressure.
Next, you can over fill the system, and an overfilled system can return liquid refrigerant to the compressor and today's compressors don't like injesting liquids.
I'll let him weigh exactly how much comes out, and then refill it with the speced amount, so we know how big a leak we are looking for.
If it is a big leaks are easy to find, little ones, not so much.

No dye in the factory fill, so no trace of a leak.
A little lower pressure than he expected for the first complaint of no-AC, so it might not be a trivial leak, but we won't know for a few weeks.
$125 down, but a guarantee of free refills for the season, and a really well trained eye to find a leak should it not hold.

Does excellent work.
Sorted out my Range River after another shop F-ed it up.
Replaced the compressor several times on my CRV, including fighting to get warranty coverage for a previously undisclosed factory/design problem.
Or, maybe it is just a mid-west thing.

Maybe so, but I had a Range Rover Indy shop in Southern Cal that was almost as nice to me.
If it is, it will get dropped at the dealer with the phone number for the warranty company.
