buying 2007 gl450 ! Need some advice.

Currently I drive a 2010 mustang v6 convertible and am looking to trade it in.

The car I am considering is a 2007 gl450 with 56k miles on it. the gl is a v8 and has the entertainment package in it as well as some other bells and whistles.

car drives great and only thing it needed (according to dealer ) was new brakes.

with the trading in the mustang the gl will cost me a little more than 5k.

here are my questions:

1. seems like a good deal to me...what do you think?

2. the dealer wanted $4k for a 3 year warranty with a $200 deduc. any ideas how i can get a good warranty that will cover major things (transmission, electronics etc..)for less?

3. anything else i need to know before i get into this car?

thanks so much !!

Funny, I want to trade my Focus on a Mustang....

Why a GL? 07 had some issues, first year, but if warranteed, who cares?

1. seems like a good deal to me...what do you think? What is the price they're selling it for? Is it CPO or not? Big difference. What's the price? What options? P1? P2? Distronic?

2. the dealer wanted $4k for a 3 year warranty with a $200 deduc. any ideas how i can get a good warranty that will cover major things (transmission, electronics etc..)for less? I paid $3200 for my 3/135 MBCPO warranty. Do some negotiating.

3. anything else i need to know before i get into this car? Yeah, it eats ****ing tires, does it have 18s or 19s? Another big difference. Does it have NEW tires on it? What brand?

GL just came in to the dealership and I drove it and it drives great. Living in chicago I need a car that can handle the winters.
Got the dealer to sell it for 20k and he's giving 14.5 for trade so total is $5,500 plus tax etc. Not sure the tires I will check. Looks like previous owner put on some chrome etc.
I'm not sure if it is CPO. The dealer is a dealership with Mercedes but not sure if they will certify it.
Who can I buy an extended warranty from?
How's the price sound?
Thanks so much for your advice.

The price is great if it's certified, with a warranty. If not, expect $8k a year in repairs.

See how it becomes a bad deal very quickly?

That car certified, AS LONG AS it has P1, new tires, and a 3/135 CPO warranty would be worth $27k, but not a dime more.

I just would not buy a modern MB without CPO and a warranty. I'm on my 7th MB in 12 years..........take heed

What does p1 mean?
Also assuming I can get it certified do I need to buy the warranty from the same dealer or can I just bring the "certification" to another dealership?

One other thing. Does a $200 deductible on a three year warranty make sense?

BS, I haven't had $8k in repairs in 8 years and 160,000 miles. If he was buying a SL/CL/S with ABC, yeah, I could see that but not the GL. My 2007 GL has been very reliable so far. I've had a few issues but nothing I would consider really major.

Did you check for paintwork? I've been disappointed that about half the GLs I looked at had accident damage (but clean carfax). That's a CHEAP price, CPO or no CPO. I'd be suspicious. If everything checks out, it's a good deal. I still wouldn't touch it without CPO. If they will CPO it for an extra $3k, and sell you a warranty til 135k for another $3 grand, you're in it for $26k, which is what it's worth with all that,

It is a good deal. The dealer is a high school buddy of mine who just got the car in. I will check the carfax and the body work looks good but how can I check for paintwork?
Thanks for the advice on the CPO. I'll check into that as we'll.
