Hi Guys, i'm new to the forum. I just purchased a 2012 GL450 and it came with the stock 19's, i am desperate to upgrade the wheels, and researching a lot. I wanted to buy some used OEM's like these:







from 2009-2010 R and ML models , but people advised me to stay away from 21in because of the cost of the tires... and it's true, they're so much more money.

I liked the looks, but they are 22's ... People commented these wheels to be very good even being replicas... do you think these wheels will make the car much higher? and how would the ride be affected? tires like 285/35 will be too "thin" and make a rough ride? i am very concerned about comfort and treadwear... what tire would you recommend?

2010GL550

We have a 2010 GL550 with the 21" rims. You are correct about the pricing of 21" tires, crazy expensive. The ride on our vehicle is very smooth and perhaps a little more composed than it would be with a taller sidewall tire (like the 19"). The lower profile is less "floaty", I imagine the same would apply to the 22" units.


Are there any 20" rim/tire combos available? That might be the best bet.
