NAVI update with 2014 US Road Maps

What are our options with getting a 2014 update for the NAVI / COMMAND system with the most recent US road maps?

Navteq offers on for my MY10 GL450, but asks $269

Are there cheaper options out there?

Thanks,
Dimitris

You can buy one on ebay for ~$100

I refuse to pay that and have resorted to buying a Garmin with lifetime updates. The Command center is very awkward to use. I feel like I'm using my flip phone to get the address into the thing.

Buying on eBay....

I would but the problem is that virtually everything I'm finding is for MY 07 - MY08 GL450s, not for a MY10 like mine. I've only been able to locate a 2014 update to the Navi at Navteq for a MY10, unless I'm going all wrong about this...

Thanks.

Go to Navteq and get the part number and use that to search. Read the description over very good before you buy it. Some people are selling copies. Don't know if the copies work?

On my Infiniti every update came with a code. You had to give them certain info before they would ship. In the shipment was the code to install it.

I'm told the MB updates don't require that?

So far I've only found a 2013 US/Canada Update for a 2010 GL450 that sells at $180 on eBay. Will keep on looking.

Thanks!

I've not seen any go for 100. Those may be bootlegged ones or ones that run for 10 days and the bid starts at 100 bucks.

The buy it now have been going for the mid to high hundreds, ie: 150. - 175.

I don't know if eBay promises a resolution on bootlegged copies, especially software?

Keep looking, you lived without it thus far a few more days or a week won't kill ya!

Seriously I would buy a Garmin with Lifetime maps for the money vs. the software. I use the hell out of the Garmin and it can be used in another vehicle too. The updates are free. My Garmin mounts on a Panavise mount: http://panavise.com/pdf_indash/751281004.pdf Easy to install. I can still use in the wife's car or rental. I have the mount in the Lexus and Honda. The Lexus is a real PITA to upate. You buy only a code number on a USB stick which the dealer has to install at a rack price. The Honda uses a disc based nav system. Again same deal, expensive to keep updating. My wife's fleet car has a mount to. That's where I got the idea for the mount.

While I use my iPhone's google maps a lot, I like to have the latest updates in the navigations in my cars. I also have mbrace which gives me the ability to "push" an address to the Navi, so having an up-to-date system is welcome. Anything around $175-$200 is "reasonable" for the next 3yrs of use. Beyond, it's not worth it.

The MBrace costs 280.00 a year on a year to year deal. Cheaper if you go the distance of course. Then another 20.00 for the plus per month. Then the cost of the Navteq updates. How is this cheaper?

The map feature on my iPhone will blurt out over the Benz Bluetooth. Although not the most efficient use of technology but it works. Also the maps feature on my iPhone is not the most trusted route either. If cell coverage is flaky guess what? It isn't working!

My Garmin works pretty good using the lifetime map updates using the Panavise dash adapter. When not in use it goes in the console.
