2012 GL450 and iOS 8.1

I'm not sure on it working with the ignition off. I'll have to check on that this evening. I plugged it in and closed the glove box. Have not looked at it since. If this is the case it will drain the battery. Not sure on the severity of that. If you leave or don't use the vehicle for any length of time I know that happens.
This morning the VISEEO went right for my iTunes library when I fired up the Benz. That irritates the crap out of me.

Yes, I can confirm that the VISEEO stays on even after the car has been shut down. I'm not sure how much "flea" power is being used. It may be enough to knock off some of the Benz options as you stated! I know from experience if left plugged in and the vehicle is not used the battery is drained.
Also the 3000 version is no better than the 1000! Same quirky nuances!
This morning I unplugged it as my phone call quality was so bad! I would have pitched it but it's not mine to pitch otherwise it would have been road kill! It's like when there is a pause in the conversation something is happening.
I can't advance through the songs. Some of the titles are in Chinese. Some of the titles do not show up on the screen, they show up as numbers. This is both screens now. The Command center and the screen between the speedo and tach. All of the music was bought through iTunes so it's not like I'm missing the album covers.
iheart Radio does work but again when advancing through your stations it skips the stations and does not display properly. Severe lag is displaying the station and or song.
In a nut shell the device seems to work if no phone calls are made or received and you don't care about what's being displayed on the screens.
Back to the drawing board on this!

1) I would consider the carplay but Apple is not going to run my life! The Android phones work, perform and are cheaper to operate than the Apple products. I swear they make to last no more than the contract so you have to sink even more money into them.
2) My wife would have a cow if I spent any more money on this ride!
3) The non OEM radio just attacks the wrong element! Thieves don't use screw drivers they use crowbars and do a real number on the entire car to get at what they want. Ever seen what they do to a dash and how it looks after they say they have fixed it? Looks like total crap! Then your own insurance company will turn on you. You have to keep all your receipts.
I'll keep what I have.

I'm still using an iPhone 5. Can't bring myself to spending that kind of money I pay only 15 bucks for each phone and 100 bucks for 15GB of data. If I go with the 6 or 6S I have to up the plan to 20 per phone and 120 for the data. Not interested in either of those options. My 5 is running the latest iOS 9.1 which sucks the battery dry real fast. I think this all part of the master plan to get the holdouts to buy the latest and greatest. Good ole Apple!
The VISEEO is a PITA. I only use it when I have to. Otherwise it's staying unplugged.
I knew the Mercedes did not bluetooth the music when I bought it. But after living without the connectivity now for over a year, and listening to my kids and grand kids complain how antique the Benz is, I do miss it. When we travel we usually use my Wife's Lexus. Which of course handles both cell and music bluetooth traffic. She hates the ride of the GL.
She's got a New 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee now for her business car. Now that kicks some serious butt with the texting, google maps, ect... When she gets the 16 in February it will have carplay so even better. I don't know what Mercedes was thinking or not thinking about this. For something that cost so much money to begin with the technology is just not there!
