GL 550 - Is 22x10.5 possible?
Is it possible to put a 22x10.5 wheel et 45 with 305/40/22 tires on a GL550 without any scrubbing or turning issues?
Has anyone tried this? Any pics?
Thanks

maybe. but why in the world would you like to do that?
ride will be worse
noise will be more
acceleration will suffer
mpg will suffer
you will compromise further the already weak steering rack
it _might_ look good although it prolly be ghetto...

I've had 22x9.5 et48 on gl450 with 305/40s for years now. No problems.
You are looking at 1inch wider rims, so half inch more on the inside and outside of rim...shouldn't be problem.
550 has fender flares too so wheels for sure will not stick out.
As for ride quality etc, I've had 22 on gl from the day we bought in 2007. Factory rims feel rather mushy to me now.

GL550 22X10.5
I've been doing some research on this as I am planning on upgrading to 22's with the 305/40/22 tires. It will not cause any rubbing as long as as you have sufficient offset with that tire size. Check the offset of the rims first before putting on that size tire. Don't quote me, but I believe you will need at least a 45mm offset to accommodate that size tire. If the offset is smaller, you will likely have to run 285/40/22 or a 295/40/22 to prevent tire rubbing.
