Several seem to have takin their trucks in.
For some reason most of the time no code is stored, as the engine returns to normal operation on the next restart.

I know mine was at the dealer after my first event and they found nothing stored.

(Yes, it is stupid for all errors not to be captured)

I got "DPF differential pressure sensor plausibility error B28/8" message. And yesterday, I got a new code reading "component M55 inlet port shutoff motor' has an internal fault".

I replaced the MAF sensor because of its plastic house attached to turbo cracked. I tried to avoid dirty air goes to the system.

When this loss power issue happening, my wiper also didn't work. I was sure that something wrong with electrical components. It maybe wet because of rain and snow.

My first try, I cleaned ERG valve only while waiting my order on DPF sensor; then drove the car for 20 minutes. The issue was gone, but it happened again later on the same day. As I read in the forum, we can turn on and off the engine to fix the issue temporarily, it didn't work in my case.

Do you think it's the EGR valve?
How is about inlet port shutoff motor?

your dpf diff sensor is bad. replace it - cheap and easy.

reset all errors. drive truck. check errors again. if the m55 error persists- your m55 motor has burned out. common on older motors. see here for replacement instructions: http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/sh...ad.php?t=93389

good luck.

2012 S350 blurted
I have the same exact issue with my 2012 S350 Bluetec. Stopping and restarting the car provides a temporary fix. When driving, the car occasionally goes into limp mode. It accelerates, but extremely slowly. My car is at the indy mechanic now for examination. No codes. Arg!

I am, still astounded that MB can put an safety fall back (limp) mode into the software and NOT put an error logging routine into capture exactly what error induced the "limp" mode.

GL 350 2010
I had this problem on and off for the last couple of months.

Indy garage finally replace seized EGR valve and completely destroyed/clogged DPF filter.

Now engine works like new.

Total cost around $1700- with new EGR valve and used DPF.

Been driving for a month now with egr removed, swirl flap bs deleted, and stage 1 tune to 280 hp, DPF is still in, also the PCV routed to exhaust after DPF, so there is no oil or carbon in the intake. I also have cleaned up intakes, new oil cooler seals and new turbo.
this *itch is new now!!
guess what, last night it went into the same limp mode, w/o any CEL!! Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

so frustrated, anyway i put diesel purge and reset adaptations and it’s better now, for some reason it’s either the fuel or injection system ... I keep the truck on diesel purge and it’s stays fine,

Do you still have the DPF differential pressure sensor?
Have you replaced it with a new one?

It happened to me again today right after transmission flush yesterday... anyone found a concrete solution to this ? I did confirm my egt12 was over 500 degs I assume it was under a regen that means ? See attach snapshot
also I got a P0127 code (intake air temp too high) but the codes been intermittent without this limp mode issue in the past

after highway drive

I'll ask again.
have you replaced the DOF differential pressure sensor.
I have not had a single event since replacing mine well over a year ago.

thanks for replying Jay I think the shop changed it few months ago
i just got trans fluid changed from a new shop run by a bunch of kids but they had all the software for diagnosis and well equipped facility.. also they put in Amsoil ATF ... any chance that triggers limp mode ??

When diagnosing always do one thing at a time, or you never know what adds or fixes the issue.

Double check the differential pressure sensor.

S350 2012
Cool Low Power - random reasons.

2012 S350 95k brand new turbo (from MB) and completely cleaned intakes - replaced flappers EGR.
4 times reduced to no pedal above 3K and NO boost... No Codes no lights. enough power to run at 80 in traffic - fuel consumption stuck at 20MPG at full throttle.
Each time turn off then on resets -- VAM boost - power and fuel consumption to 3MPG under full on.
Cannot be fuel or failed Turbo - could be TPS or vacuum or electrical EXCEPT the randomness -- BUT why does it reset to 100% normal -- it should say broken if its a leak eh?
Normally after pedal is released to floor -- and then re-applied -- 1 after 10 mins drive 2 after 30 mins 3 after 30 seconds - just backed out of garage.
I'm replacing the TPS as first call.

Why do you think it is carbon?
It has never happened in warm or dray weather.

There is a lot of guessing on this issue, but (again) the most common successful fix has been the DPF differential pressure sensor. (Under the car where it and its electrical connector get cold and wet)

Now just one GL450 with EORP.

When the problem is going on, I can floor the accelerator and I get barely perceptible acceleration. Think 0-60 in one minute. If I pull over and turn off and restart the motor, things are normal again and I have the usual power and torque.

There are no codes, no check engine light.

Is this the famous GL "Limp mode" - Anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas?
yup, it’s the reason I got rid of my gl320. There were never any codes stored, but I suspect intake coking that shorted the intake flaps and triggered LHM.
